The SL Series bridges compact and full-size machines of the Steel Unlimited’s compaction-wheel lineup, sized for mini excavators, skid steers and rubber tire bachhoes while retaining the heavy-duty construction features used across SUI’s wheel family.

BOTTOM-UP COMPACTION
Wheel penetration works through the lift, helping reduce bridging and voids as material is processed and compacted.
COHESIVE SOILS
The rolling and kneading action can help break up and remix clay and other cohesive material during trench backfill.
SIMPLE OPERATION
The wheel mounts in place of the bucket using the carrier’s attachment arrangement and does not require a special hydraulic circuit.

WHY USE A COMPACTION WHEEL ON A SMALL BACKHOE?
PENETRATION THROUGH THE LIFT
An open wheel can penetrate into backfill rather than working only at the surface, supporting bottom-up compaction.
NO AUXILIARY HYDRAULICS
A static compaction wheel works through machine movement and downforce without an additional hydraulic compactor circuit.
BACKFILL + COMPACT
The integrated plate can help move and level backfill so the operator can perform more of the trench process with one attachment.
Compaction requirements vary by soil, moisture, lift thickness, specification and jobsite conditions. Follow project requirements and field density testing where applicable.
